Prepping and packaging your plant for Express Postage:
We’ll gently tease away some soil off the roots, leaving enough to protect them. The roots will then be wrapped in a generous clump of damp sphagnum moss, wrapped to secure, then placed and attached securely in a sturdy box, so that the plant can’t move around in transit. The surrounding area will be filled with shedded paper, whatever polystyrene bits we are recycling and bubble wrap. We do recycle as much as we can, sourcing second hand wherever we can. We use Express Australia Post, on Mondays and Tuesdays only to limit transit time over weekends.
Unboxing your plant
Open the box and gently remove all our packaging and snip the tape securing the plant to the base of the box.
For Indoor plants please see our aroid mix recipe on this page (Blog One) and make up a batch before carefully removing the excess sphagnum moss. Don’t try to remove small bits that have attached to the roots as you can damage them. Carefully plant out water thoroughly, allowing the water to drain through. Plants are prone to root rot if left in standing water. You can also mist the leaves. Most indoor plants enjoy a warm bright spot away from direct sunlight and drafts. Most also enjoy a humid environment, so particularly in Winter with heating on drying out the air mist regularly. Remember the more you can emulate conditions where your plant originates, the fastre it will grow and the happier it will be.
For succulents and cacti buy a good quality specific mix from your nursery, plant out and water. Don’t water again until the soil dries out completely.
Enjoy! And if you have any queries or need further advice please email us through the website and we’ll get back to you.
